Happy Birthday Winnie the Pooh!
October 14th is the 100th anniversary of the first publishing of the Winnie the Pooh book. To celebrate, this week we are sharing the story Finding Winnie, about the real bear that inspired the Winnie the Pooh stories. And just for fun we're taking a Poohsonality test to see what character each class is most like. A few of our favorite one liners from Pooh and his friends are...Oh Bother...TTFN, ta ta for now...Slow Down...Let's Bounce. And Mrs. Morley's favorite thought from Pooh is "You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

QUIVER
This week in the library we are celebrating Dot Day by tapping into our creativity and imagination. One of the activities we are doing is using an app called QUIVER, where you can turn drawings/pictures from their collection into a 3D picture. If you would like to play around with QUIVER on your own, HERE is a link to their online site. Also, you do not need to pay and sign up for a subscription. I just use what is free...and the DOT for Dot Day is included in that.

April is National Poetry Month!
We are kicking off National Poetry Month exploring different types of poems, and different ways to write poetry. I think the idea of using spoonerism to mix up letters in the words of the poem (as found in Runny Babbit) and making a poem into a comic strip (as demonstrated in Poetry Comics) are such fun ideas. I hope students will have fun using their imagination and creativity as we explore poetry together this month.
