I thought it would be fun to start a count of how many books are checked out throughout the remainder of the school year and set up this display right next to my computer. I update it every morning (and sometimes throughout the day) so we can see our progress.
Along with the count, I also wanted to recognize students that check out each of the 1,000th book of the year and yesterday a first grader checked out our 7,000th book! Below is what they received in a prize pack for being that lucky student. Keep bringing books back on time and checking out new books and you could be the next lucky student that checks out our 8,000th book!

SORA

This week we are reading the story Dreamers in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This eBook was checked out from the ASD online library through SORA, which every student in ASD has an account on and can check out eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and more. Students will log in to SORA with their universal login credentials (the username and passwrod they use for Clever, and the chomebooks and comupter lab at school.) You should have received this login information from teachers last week when you had parent teacher conferences. If you need assistance with SORA please reach out to Mrs. Morley in the library, she can help. This is a great resource to access additional reading materials for students when they are not able to get books from the library...USE IT!

Read it with Friends!

Mrs. Morley has added a few new things to the library for this school year and one of them is something students regularly ask her for...a collection of multiple copies of the same book. So, if you are looking for a book that you and your friends can read together there is now a special shelf Mrs. Morley curated just for that purpose.

Are You Ready?

Are you ready to come back to school? Mrs. Morley is getting ready. She looks forward to sharing the V.O.G.'s (Very Official Guidelines) of the library with you when you come back and hopes you will join her in being a member of the LSS (Library Secret Service) this school year.

Keep Reading this Summer!

Summer Library is in June on Tues. and Thurs. from 9AM-11AM Dates: June 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 (all books are due on the 27th) And don't forget that each student at Liberty Hills has an account on SORA where they can access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, comic books and more. Choose Alpine School District in the drop down menu then sign in with their student’s school email and password (the same way they log into the computer lab and chromebooks.) This is a great resource that you can access all summer long, they even have a special collection of SORA sweet summer reads that are all available all the time this summer. Another great resources to access books online is BOOKFLIX, where you can enjoy paired fiction book videos and nonfiction eBooks on BOOKFLIX! Sign in using the username and password afl1. Lehi City Public Library also offers a Summer Reading Program and activities throughout the summer. Their summer reading program runs May 28 - July 6, check out the info below for more details.

Library Info

I made an infographic with library stats from this school year and I thought I would share it here. These numbers were actually gathered a few weeks ago, before the end of the school year, so some of the numbers are really higher than shown, but they're pretty close. It's been a great year in the library! I love Liberty Hills and all of staff and students that I get to work with. Thank you for a great year...and KEEP READING!

SORA SWEET READS

Just a reminder that every student in ASD has an account and can check out eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and so much more through SORA! Go to the SORA link under "Online links" and log in with student credentials, the same username and password that they use to log into the computer lab or chromebooks at school. SORA is a great resource to help students keep reading and learning even throughout the summer, and they have an extensive list of books that are always available SORA SWEET READS. If you have any problems logging in reach out to Mrs. Morley.

Book Donations for PCH

We did something new at our book fair last week and collected books to donate to the new PCH that just opened next door to Liberty Hills. In the hospital they have a library where patients get to choose a book and keep it, so they are always adding new books to the collection. A parent of a student at Liberty Hills came up with the idea to collect books to donate and we were able to donate over 60 new books to the hospital, I think this will become a new tradition at all of our book fairs! Thank you to all that donated books, they were very grateful for your generosity. If you weren't able to make it to the book fair last week, we do have our BOGO fair in May at the end of the school year.
