Let's Celebrate!

This week we are talking about celebrations from around the world,
some tied to Christmas and some a totally separate holiday all together.

I also reminded student of two great resources, World book online and Utah's Online Library, where they can find great information and maybe learn some new things they may not have known before. You can find these resources to the right listed under online links.

Happy Reading!

Happy Birthday, Happy Earth Day!

Today is my granddaughter's first birthday and tomorrow is Earth Day! Since it is National Poetry Month I want to share one of my all time favorite poem books with you. This is a book that makes me reflect on both my granddaughter and the earth, a book that remind me of the importance of our connections with others and our world. It has very few words, like many poems, but every time I read this book it's illustrations and text touch my heart. I hope you enjoy this video of "All the World" written by Liz Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Marla Frazee as much as I do. Pay attention to the illustrations as you listen to the words being sung, they share a deeper level of the story that the words don't tell. I miss all of you but know that even though we can't be together at school we are still connected like this poem say, all the world is all of us.

As I worked last summer to get the Liberty Hills library ready (with a little help from my granddaughter) I was so excited to meet, work with, and get to know all of you. I’ve felt from the beginning that LH is where I belong and I am so sad that our time together this school year is being cut short. I know this may be a difficult time for you, but I also know that we can make it through this because we are husky strong. I miss you and I want to stay connected. Send me a message or join me at a literary lunch bunch. I would love see and hear from you! Look for me waving at our parade next week.🖐🏻❤🖐🏻❤🖐🏻

Specialty Bingo

I collaborated with the specialty teachers and we created a specialty bingo card where you can do different activities from each of the specialty classes and try to get BINGO. There are links for some of the activities that will take you right to them online, the BINGO card can be found on both the Computer and Engineering websites and you should also get an email with information about it. There will be a surprise for students that are able to get a BINGO, please reach out to me or one of the other specialty teachers if you have any questions.
Thanks, Mrs. Morley

SORA

Yesterday I dropped off a surprise for the top 10 students using SORA in March! Have you been using SORA? I have, Look at the badges I’ve earned! Do you think I can earn my All-Nighter to get all 5 of 5 reading time badges? I’m not usually still awake at 11PM  but maybe I’ll stay up this weekend just to read on SORA for 15 minutes. 😉 How many badges do you have?
I DID IT...I stayed up late on the weekend and got my All-Nighter!

Reading is Magical!

You may have noticed the Harry Potter display in the library. I love Harry Potter because it is the series that helped my son become a reader when he was in 4th grade. FYI, I have to admit that I had just as much fun reading the HP books as he did. 😊 I found out today that Overdrive is giving us the opportunity to read the 1st book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, simultaneously for the whole month of April. That means this book will always be available, no holds and no waiting! You can check the book out on SORA. And...I also heard recently that there is a cool website called "Harry Potter at Home" with lots of fun activities and magical ideas for extreme HP enthusiast, check it out here. Happy Reading!
